The mares are equally as important to the stud as the stallions.

Our foundation welsh section B mares have been rigorously selected for their breed characteristics, origins and very importantly, their character. We have imported many of them directly from the top, traditional breeders in the UK and Wales as we want to retain as many of the true origins as possible.

Of course whilst the origins are important, the most essential factor is the temperament of the mare and the morphology. Incorrect conformation is not acceptable, poor movement is not likely to make a foal with excellent paces and a less than lovely character is not desirable as it will have a heavy influence on the foals that she produces.

All of our mares are inscribed into the french breeding programme for welsh ponies.
